Ancient Hebrew, Greek, and Latin texts frequently mention the Tyre coin or Tyrian shekel, but only a few have ever been excavated. This one was first unearthed in the 1980s, subsequently lost and recently rediscovered during restoration work carried out at the Tower of David Museum.
