When staffers at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, New York, needed space for ventilators and additional hospital beds during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, they ventured to an old storeroom and were shocked to discover paintings and prints by Willem de Kooning, Robert Dash and Alexander Calder, among others.
